The winner of the Miss France 2013, Marine Lorphelin, may be happy but the CRAN (Representative Council of Black Associations) is not happy with the jury as winner is again a white. There are nation wide conflict because of this race issue. Louis-Georges Tin, the president of the CRAN (Representative Council of Black Associations) said, “The failure to represent the contemporary French population in an event such as this is obviously serious.” This statement was issued jointly with Fred Royer, the creator of Miss Black France. They said, “It amounts to denying the very existence of French people of African origin.”
Nearly 10 million people watched the live telecast of the French national beauty pageant. 19 year old Marine Lorphelin is a brunette medical student from Burgundy who edged out Miss Tahiti, Hinarini de Longeaux, in the final round of judging. “I dedicate this to my grandmother, who passed away last year and dreamed of seeing me competing in Miss France one day. Now I am Miss France”, Lorphelin declared.
So what you guys think, whether this is wrong decesion? I personally think that there should not be any bias just on the basis of color of skin. There should be proper enquiry on the judging criteria and marking system followed by the judging team. I am looking for some healthy discussion on this topic.
