Miss Universe New Zealand 2012: Avianca Böhm

Miss Howick Avianca Böhm has won the Miss Universe New Zealand 2012 title at the Amora Hotel in Wellington on June 3, 2012. She is 22-years-old who is not the citizen of New Zealand. The citizenship issue has started the controversy. In the same context, third runner up Miss Otago Monique Cooley is an Australian. Last month 16-years-old Miss World Fiji, Torika Watters was stripped of her crown because of her foreign origin issue.

She was crowned by last year’s winner Wellington’s Priyani Puketapu in Wellington. Avianca Böhm will represent New Zealand in Miss Universe 2012 (venue yet to be decided).  The first and second runner ups in the contest were Miss North Harbour Talia Bennett and Miss Wellington Lauren Mann, respectively. The judging panel comprised three Wellingtonians  Lucire publisher Jack Yan (chairman), Samantha Hannah (stylist and fashion editor ), Carl Manderson (Salute Hair & Day Spa director ), Aucklanders May Davis and Danijela Unkovich.
