Supermodel Miranda Kerr has been dragged into a complicated “cybersquatting” dispute over the .com.au web address bearing her name.
James Wester, who bought mirandakerr.com.au in March, this week had it ripped away by the Australian domain name regulator, auDA, who accused him of being a cyber squatter. But he claims he bought the domain name for altruistic reasons and has accused auDA of defaming him.
Wester caught the attention of auDA after he appeared in a Courier Mail article, published late last month. The article quoted him as saying he had registered the mirandakerr.com.au name and that it could be worth up to A$200,000.
