Patterned or Plain; T Shirts to Suit Men’s Figures

A big part of fashion is taking the body you have and making it look as good as is possible. T shirts are one of the first things a person will see when looking at you, so it’s always a good idea to try to make a great impression here, giving your body the best chance as looking attractive.

The Design

There are several different designs available on the market, but I feel that the cut is also important, as it determines how the t shirt will fit your physique. If you’ve been putting in a lot of time at the gym and have bulging biceps, a higher sleeve cut will show off your best aspects, whereas a looser fit adds to the illusion of making you look slimmer, in the same way a tree looks taller in the open than one surrounded by bushes.

Know Your Body

When it comes to design, honesty really is the best policy. Accepting what you have will allow you to work with it more accurately, whereas the more you pretend to have something you don’t the less pleased you’ll be with the final results.

Styles for your shape

If you’re a thinner man, broad, horizontal stripes will fill out your figure the moment you put the shirt on. It really does give your body additional shape that would usually take hours in the gym to attain. The difference isn’t going to turn you from a 6 stone man in to The Rock overnight, but your friends may be able to notice a subtle difference in how you look. As will your date.

On the other hand, if you want to take advantage of the slimming effect of clothing, this is where you’ll see the biggest difference. The optical illusion created by wearing thin, vertical stripes on a t shirt is almost night and day. You can expect to lose a couple of pounds quite comfortably if you pick a reasonably loose (not three sizes too big) t shirt with long stripes on it, so it’s definitely worth grabbing a few for your wardrobe, just in case you ever need to feel slightly better about yourself one day.

Overall, while there is a noticeable difference, you’d see a lot more of a change through changing your actual body, than the clothing covering it. It’s worth investing in while you’re altering your body shape, but nothing compares to the impact you’ll see when adjusting how you really look

How to Accessorize Evening Wear

A dressy night out is almost always a good time, but sometimes accessorizing your evening wear can be downright difficult. If you have ever had trouble accessorizing evening wear, be sure to look over the following tips. They will help you polish your look and get out the door in no time at all.

Consider Your Outfit

The accessories you choose to complement your look will depend largely on your attire. If your outfit is on the warmer end of the color spectrum (think reds, oranges, and yellows), you may want to wear gold-tone accessories. If the clothing you are wearing is in the cool family (think blues, greens, and purples), silver-tone may be best for you. Some people already have a preference when it comes to jewelry, so the tone you decide on may be no question. Evening gowns with plunging necklines look great with statement jewelry, such as necklaces, earrings, or bracelets. If you are wearing a high-neck dress, you might want to forego the necklace and stick mainly to earrings and/or a bracelet. It is really all about the design of the outfit you are wearing, and of course your personal preferences. You may love wearing bold pieces of jewelry that help you stand out in a crowd. On the other hand, you may not be much of a jewelry fan. Accessorizing your outfit with the proper shoes is also a good idea. The right shoes can add that extra bit of pizzazz to your ensemble. Just keep in mind that accessorizing your evening wear does not have to be a dilemma.

Less is More

When it comes to accessorizing your evening wear, try to remember that less is usually more. You do not want to over-do it on accessories. Try to keep things simple by not mixing too many pieces of bold jewelry. Pearl necklaces often look elegant with many types of evening gowns, so always consider them an option. If you wear a pearl necklace, some simple earrings should be all you need to complete your look. If you choose to wear earrings that are long or very boldly-designed, they may be the only accessory your evening wear needs.  As for shoes, wear a pair that accents your outfit without taking away from it. Also, think about comfort when deciding on a pair of shoes. You certainly do not want to be in pain all night.

Consider Makeup an Accessory

The right makeup can also be an excellent accessory to your evening wear. If your ensemble is on the simple side, try to play up your eyes and lips in a dramatic way. Think black eye liner and brightly-colored lipstick. If your outfit is more bold or colorful, you may want to keep your makeup as simple and carefree as possible. Consider neutral shades of eye shadow and lip color. Also, paint your nails a hue that will complement your evening wear. A fresh manicure is always a great accessory to any outfit.

Now that you know a little more about accessorizing evening wear, you should have no trouble polishing off your look. With just a little time and effort, you will be elegant, beautiful, and ready for your night out.

How to Choose a Shirt That Fits

With so many different styles of shirt now available and with everybody suiting and feeling comfortable with certain styles, it can be a difficult task to find the right shirt for you, and more importantly, one which fits.

We take a look at the different styles available and how best to choose a style which will suit, and fit you!

Get Measured
The one thing men don’t do is have themselves properly measured. Unless you are visiting a tailor then most retailers will size their shirts based on neck size and arm length. It’s really important to know this and choose a suitable shirt. Remember you don’t want your collar to choke you to death, it should fit snugly but comfortably.

First and foremost get the occasion you are going to wear your shirt in right. Is it for a social occasion or a shirt you intend to wear in a more formal guise, such as work or a job interview? There will be some shirts which will also work in both situations but just be conscious of this.

Also important at this stage is whether you intend to wear a tie with the shirt or not. Though not impossible to match plaid, chequered and striped shirts are more difficult to match to ties.

Shirts will often come in a different range of fits. Different retailers will vary what these are called but they generally fit into 3 categories:

  • Tailored Fit – likely to fit closely to and hug your stomach and chest and arms.
  • Slim Fit – like a tailored fit shirt these shirts won’t be as slim fitting around the stomach as a tailored fit shirt
  • Classic/Standard Fit – shirts of this type typically have no tailoring at all.

You preferred fit will often depend on your body shape, but as a very general rule men with a more athletic physique will better suit tailored and slim fit shirts. Men with a rounder frame will suit a classic fit.

Like fits collars breakdown into even more different types. Rather than try and remember the name of each one just remember that a collar frames your neck and your face. You can therefore use a collar to balance yourself out; for example if you have a long neck and face got for a shorter cut away collar. If you face tends to be more round opt for a spread or long collar to help your face look longer.
