Makeup or no Makeup?

Some girls swear by makeup. They are the ones who would rather die than go out in public without first fixing their face. Others however, contend that makeup is a nonessential item, something that society tells us that we need, when really we don’t. Like it or hate it, there seem to be some solid arguments that exist in either direction. If you are still unsure as to where you stand in this debate, take a look at some of the points that follow, and hopefully they will help you to make up your own mind.

The first advantage of wearing makeup, and the one that is most argued by makeup lovers, is the effect that it has on how your face looks. Rather than changing your face completely, the point of makeup is to accentuate your most positive features. If you know how to apply it properly, it can make a huge difference to your look, without challenging the integrity of your face.

Health Benefits

Whether you wear full makeup or not, or you are a man or a woman, you should always be taking care of your skin. Makeup can help as moisturizers add much-needed moisture to a person’s face. Most face makeup also has some SPF in it, which is recommended as vital protection from the sun on a daily basis.

How Do You Feel When You Wear Makeup?

One of the most important parts of your decision will be how you personally react to wearing makeup. Some people love the way that it makes them feel – confident, protected, beautiful. In the other hand however, there are some who say that makeup makes them feel uncomfortable, that they feel artificial when they are wearing it.

Time and Money

Another disadvantage to wearing makeup is the sheer time that it takes to apply it. If you want to wear makeup, you have to be ready to get up just that little bit earlier everyday in order to apply it each morning. Aside from just time, there is also the issue of money. Are the benefits of wearing makeup worth the cost it takes to replace it regularly.

So now that you are more aware of the reasons why some people do and some people don’t wear makeup, you can make a decision of your own. The most important thing to remember is that it has to be a personal choice, regardless of outside factors. The best thing to do is to try it out. Get some makeup, learn how to wear it, and do so for at least a couple of weeks. If you still do not like it at the end of the fortnight, you can simply stop! The choice is up to you, but you never know until you try.

Top Spring/Summer Beauty Must Haves

Time to freshen up for spring and summer! Think sunkissed skin and locks, and bright hues for your eyes and lips. I’ve found some of the hottest spring and summer beauty must haves for you. All you need to do, is hit up the store and stock up on these goods.  From eye shadow to what color to paint your nails, I’ve got you covered.

1) Colored Mascara

I personally like bright blue mascara, but there are tons of colors out there to choose from. Colored mascara looks awesome in the sun. It is perfect for a beach day, or a night out on the town with friends. Yves Saint Laurent carries a great waterproof mascara for $30. If you’re looking for something a bit more budget friendly for your lashes, I recommend checking out colored mascaras by Urban Decay. Mabelline also sells a great blue mascara for under 10 bucks.

 2) Kissable Lips

Non sticky bright lip gloss is going to be next on our must have beauty buys. Nothing is worse than having your hair sticking to your lips all day, so I’ve researched some glosses that aren’t as sticky. I’ve  come up with MAC Reel Sexy Lipglass for $20. Chanel glossimers, is also an awesome lipgloss that comes in a variety of eye catching colors and wont stick. Chanel glossimers cost $29.50. having a lushious pout for those hen party snaps or that mid week date. Lets face it you cant be caught out notYou might want to buy 2, because you will be surprised with how fast you can use up 1 tube! Bobbi Brown Neon Sheer Color Lipgloss is another one to try out, and is $23. Kate Moss also just come out with five lip shades for Rimmel London, ranging from royal purple to blush nude. For about 5 bucks a stick, I’d go ahead and channel your inner Kate this season.

3) Bold colorful eye shadows

If you’re a purple gal, now’s your time to shine. Purple eye shadow is big right now. Bobbi Brown shows us how it’s done with her Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow for $21. I wear a lot of MAC makeup, and they have great eye shadows in tons of stand out colors for $15

4) Nude nail polish is in.

After years of neon and off the wall colors, the pendulum has swung in the opposite direction with an emphasis on wearable’s shades such as beige and cream. You can still some bold patterns though, it’s all about classic reds, corals, soft pastels and mellow yellows.  These soft looks will look refreshing on your fingers, especially with all of the bold patterned clothing and accessories this season

5) A good body scrub

With summer around the corner, now is the time to invest in a decent body scrub to get rid of dead skin skills, and keep your skin smooth and hydrated. I recommend Laura Mercier Fresh Fig Scrub for $46. You won’t be disappointed, and it smells so freaking good.

I hope this list has helped you with your beauty must haves this spring and summer. After writing this, I am excited to do a little shopping myself. Nothing wrong with wanting to pamper yourself, and feel pretty every once in awhile. You deserve it!
