Connecticut-based artist Daniel Edwards had made the nude bronze sculpture of Justin Bieber with Selena Gomez. Earlier he has made life-sized nude form cast in bronze for Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Oprah Winfrey
In a interview with FOX411.com the 46-year-old Edwards said, “They’re pretty inspiring. They’re a beautiful young couple, and (Bieber) seems to have a lot to say politically. Being my age, he’s not exactly on my radar, but when he starts talking politically, I feel good about his future.”
Edwards explains, “The most important aspect of (the sculpture) isn’t the nudity, as much as it representing the idea of a young couple.”
“There is that exploitation factor that kind of does gall me, when they push a little bit too soon, show them on the beach half-naked.”
he continues, “It’s hard for me to sculpt something from the point of view that I’m making a comment on something negative–I mean, that’s in there. But they’re inspiring enough to hold my interest to get through the sculpture. I think everyone sees them as pretty squared away kids. Time will tell, but I think they’re a very inspiring young couple.”
The sculpture, entitled “Justin and Selena as One” features the couple conjoined at the torso, with a Canadian maple leaf and the Texas Lone Star covering their naughty bits. In front of the couple, a Canada goose, wings in full display, mounts a Texas armadillo.
The sculpture will be unveiled at Dallas’s New Fine Arts by Cory Allen Contemporary Art.
